Little small short wheel base cars make really fast race cars but with that comes an ill handling race car. Such is the case with fan favorite Earl Mclemore's 1958 Morris Minor A/Gas car. The fans loved the car but it was just too small to be competitive in A/G. It took Earl several years and several close calls to make the decision to build a longer wheel base car but once he did he stripped and parked the little car.
Then Scott Butler who just couldn't stand to see the car retired made a deal with long time friend Earl to let him rebuild the car and run it in B/Gas where it would have to weigh more and maybe handle better. Scott is no stranger to the Southeast Gassers Association because he has been a long time friend and crew member on brother in law Shaun Mclemore's B/Gas car. Once Scott got the car home he went to work immediately to have it ready for the 2020 SEGA tour. Scott with ton's of help from friends and family built an all new suspension and had the car back running and ready to race in just 3 months.
Scott said when it came time for a transmission he was out of cash but rather than see the project stop his parents Joy and David Butler stepped up and bought him a trans. Scott said another example of friends helping was the Mclemore family being there and helping get it back together. Scott said his wife Jessica was the back bone to the project because she supported him by working everyday and bringing money home to pay the bills while he spent his money to build the car.
Scott will debut the car June 6th at London Dragway in London Kentucky for the first stop on the SEGA 2020 tour.
