Huston Kneese-WHEN YOU HAVE MASTERED BRACKET RACING---

Quain Stott | Published on 5/30/2020

What happens when one of the best bracket racers in the country feels like he has mastered bracket racing to the point he's tired of doing it?

Huston Kneese from Vaucluse SC has done it all when it comes to bracket racing. He has won Super Chevy's dot street tire class a record 7 times. That's more than anybody else in the world has won the class. He was so good that back in the day he was accused and protested many times of having a delay box before they ever came out. Years ago while Huston was on the road traveling with Ed Hoover's Pro Mod team I have witnessed him many times take their rental car and win local bracket races all over the country at strange tracks where nobody knew who he was. He would drop in, win the race and never be seen at the track again. I'm sure some of the locals still to this day wonder who he was.

Huston (nickname Frog) now 57 years old took a liking to the new SEGA Super Stock class but knew, since now retired. his budget wouldn't allow him to build a car to compete in a first to the finish line type drag race.

His dream was answered 4 months ago when good friend Steve Goss, with help from Huston's wife Heather, stepped in and told Huston they would finance him a Super Stock car. Huston and Steve went right to work and located a 4 door 65 Chevy 2 in a junk yard in Williston, SC. The car was rough but since the 2020 race season was closing in they just shot some yellow paint, Huston's signature race car color, on it and plan to come back later to to give it some body work and a nice paint job. The team contracted Mike Saye at Carolina Machine to build the SEGA legal 350 engine. While Mike was building the engine Huston was installing the rear end and all the necessary parts to make it a competitive SEGA S/S car.

Huston wanted to give a big thanks to Mike Saye, Steve Goss and Huston's loving wife Heather for the sponsorship and help that made this possible.

Huston is looking forward to his new challenge and will debut the Yellow 65 Chevy June 6th at London Dragway  in London Kentucky.
