WELCOME RICK VARNER ANOTHER NEW SEGA RACER
63 year old Rick Varner made the trip to the Mooresville NC Southeast Gassers Association race last week end and that's all it took to convince him he had found a competitive place to race. Rick owner of Varner Hauling & Grading and Ricks Big Truck sales in Kannapolis NC is no stranger to hard work. He is also no stranger to drag racing and has even been involved in Pro Mod back in it's heyday. Varner don't look at racing as a game he wants lots of stiff competition so when he wins a race he feels like he has accomplished something. He seen just that at the SEGA race he attended as a fan this past weekend. With this in mind he went straight home from the race and started thrashing to make the necessary changes to get his 1965 Chevelle legal for the Southeast gasser Super Stock class. The really cool thing about this man is he also has 2 more Chevy Impala Super Stockers that might be joining in. With his sights set on the gas classes he is also making the SEGA legal changes to a 55 Chevy A/Gassers and a 65 Chevy 2 C/Gassers to campaign a car in 3 different classes (with extra drivers) before the season is over. Rick a proud US Army Veteran Staff Sargent is always looking for a challenge and that's why he is going to the trouble to cut up and change already built cars to make them SEGA legal. Rick will quickly tell you that he loves the challenge of building a competitive car to strict rules just about as much as driving it. Rick said he has found a place to race where his driving, building and performance skills will be tested on a level playing field, where the best man holds the trophy up at the end of the day.
RICKS SEGA DEBUT WILL BE AT Motor Mile Dragway IN RADFORD VA. AUGUST 31ST ALONG WITH OVER 60 MORE SEGA LEGAL CARS.
