Thoughts of SEG in Knoxville-Tim Ellison

Published on 9/29/2019

Knoxville Dragway is a special place for me, for it was my first experience with Southeast Gassers a few years back. Needless to say I have been addicted ever since.
This year SEG set a record with attendance and the most car entries ever. We had fans from far away as Australia, Sweden and Japan and from all over the USA.
We knew early on the stars were lined up and it was going to be a very special day. Vehicles and fans were lined up to the road waiting to get in and Quain was helping shuttle folks back and forth in the golf cart to the gate. Fans were amazed the owner of the company was actually working park duty !

Some of my personal favs of the day was seeing the underdogs make it to the finals.......but my biggest thrill was between the Hillbilly's of the North & South.Todd Napier&Tj YorkIn the final round of B/Gas. The Tennessee boy for sure was the crowd favorite and the majority of the stands were still full waiting for the outcome. It was a few minutes I will never forget, and excitement only experienced and not explained.
Tj York& The Greenhorn Hillbilly got it done and came out on the winning side this time.....but I got a feeling The Atomic Hillbilly will be back for another round soon.
I can't stress enough, if you love old school, back in day drag racing. Come experience the time machine effect of the Southeast Gassers.
